OLDHAM-based business networking company, Doing Biz for Yourself (DBFY), has successfully turned the challenge of the recent pandemic into an opportunity to support local businesses with the launch of the ground breaking DBFY Marketplace App.
Sponsored by bITo Ltd, the app is the first directory of its kind in the area.
At a time when a number of small businesses were struggling with the pressures of the global pandemic, DBFY owner and entrepreneur, Dawn Torrington, was thinking of creative ways she could support her growing number of clients.
“I’m so proud to be able to offer my clients the opportunity to showcase their business, not just to other members, but to the general public, too. Several members have already benefitted from paid work and new business contacts since the launch. DBFY is a trusted brand. Customers want reassurance of a good product or service and they can now shop local from the comfort of their own home.”
As face-to-face network meetings became impossible, Dawn also introduced Zoom power-hour network meetings and free expert webinars. In addition to ongoing business support, DBFY members can also access an exclusive area to view previous webinars, useful tips, and discounts.
One client who has benefited from membership is Mel Broughton, owner of Moment of Proof, a proofreading and copy-editing service in Hyde. She said, “Juggling the start of a new business during a pandemic with home-schooling is an exhausting task. Finding the right support can be daunting. The DBFY community is very welcoming, and I now have easy access to a wide range of products and services from experienced accountants to gluten free treats made locally.”
