Oldham’s Festival of Business

Oldham Business Festival

A MONTH-LONG festival has been capturing the imagination of business leaders in Oldham during September and October.

Monday September 13 kicked off a series of events offering start up advice and business support.

The opening events all took place at The Eastern Pavilion, Featherstall Road South starting with a business breakfast hosted by Oldham Council Leader Councillor Arooj Shah and the council’s new Chief Executive Harry Catherall.

There was a short video presentation from the council on how the local authority intends leading the local economy, and helping the business community, post the covid pandemic.

Councillor Shah outlined her visions and priorities for the borough – and the opportunities for local businesses before taking questions from the audience.

Mr Catherall, on his first public appearance since replacing Carolyn Wilkins as leader of the Executive Team, briefed the attentive 70-plus audience on how the council is delivering these ideas and policies and supporting Oldham’s economy in it´s recovery from the pandemic.

The dialogue between the guests – representing all sides of the business community from large corporations to start-ups – was positive throughout with both sides declaring their intention to ´work together´.
