Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has praised as ‘innovative’ the retrofitting of solar panels to commercial diesel vehicles by local firm, TRAILAR, even touting their work as something Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham should consider.
TRAILAR, which was set up in 2018 and employs 40 staff, fits cutting edge solar technology to commercial vehicles which reduces the vehicles’ fuel use, maintenance costs, emissions of particulate matter and CO2 helping to improve air quality and meet our commitment to have net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
After visiting TRAILAR at their office, in the Southlink Business Park, Mrs Abrahams said: “It makes me so proud of Oldham when I visit local businesses like TRAILAR.
“Retrofitting diesel commercial vehicles with solar panels, making them cleaner for the environment, and cheaper to run, is a brilliant idea and we should be backing such innovative work being pioneered in our own borough.
“I have contacted Andy Burnham about this and hope that bus providers and other organisations with commercial vehicles will also consider retrofitting their fleets.”
