SADDLEWORTH Pool & Leisure Centre in Uppermill has unveiled a new gym and fitness area following a substantial £300,000 upgrade.

The refurbished gym features state-of-the art fitness equipment which no other local providers offer, along with a stunning new look.

The installation work was completed during the summer holidays ready for the autumn season.

Oldham Community Leisure, which operates the centre, has made a significant investment in new gym equipment. The new kit gives members access to wi-fi-enabled on-board entertainment centres, which feature live TV, music stations, in-built apps, games and wireless phone connections, allowing them to pair their device to the station to gain their vital signs and track their workouts using their smart phone.

Innovative equipment includes some new-to-market items such as the latest Climbmills, Skillrows, and an innovative Skillbike and Skierg.

And the gym has a new-look interior too, including smoked oak flooring, vibrant wall graphics, bespoke work-out areas and a much larger free weights area.

Julie Alston, general manager at Saddleworth Pool & Leisure Centre, said: “Saddleworth is a fantastic facility and a very popular one for our members. Demand is always high and we’re continually striving to offer the latest innovations and best possible customer experience. This is why this particular investment and refurbishment is so important.

“The gym area has always been extremely popular and our member’s needs, along with our offering, has changed. So, this is the perfect time to align those requirements with the latest innovation that helps people to work-out in a fun and more engaging manner.

“We have also extended our opening times this autumn and introduced a more varied class and pool timetable to better-cater to our customers’ needs.”

A variety of fun challenges and activities were being planned this autumn to let members and non-members get accustomed to the new kit and find out more about the range of health and leisure classes available.
