An innovative and bespoke service combining business-banking advice, law and extended financial planning services under one roof has been launched by Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers.
Former corporate banker David Meredith, from Saddleworth, has joined the team bringing with him over 39 years’ experience in banking and business.

Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers are already unique in the area by combining financial advisers with lawyers to offer clients a totally holistic service.

Now, with the addition of the former NatWest commercial director, Pearson is enhancing its commercial offering. With a portfolio of clients ranging from SMEs, family-run businesses and national household names, Pearson said it hopes that Dave’s appointment will add to the firm’s continued growth and performance over the next few years.

Dave said: “Pearson is a strong team with ambitious growth plans and I’m delighted to have joined them and excited at the prospect of helping them to further develop the business.
“My banking background has given me extensive experience of working closely with the owners of north west-based SMEs. I think there’s a great opportunity for me to help both existing and new clients by improving our understanding of their commercial needs and thereby ensuring we deliver the right advice and services at the right time”, he added.

During his banking career, Dave has liaised with businesses across all sectors between £2 million and £50 million turnover. For the past 10 years he had the role of director of commercial banking at NatWest.
His invaluable experience of SMEs, helping them to achieve their business and personal objectives, will be at the heart of his work with the law firm.

Similarly, Pearson said his experience of change-management, alternative finance solutions and business development will be an asset to its’ growing team of commercial lawyers and he will be able to take a step back and look at solutions as a non-lawyer. He has experience of working with businesses across Saddleworth, Oldham and Ashton, as well as the wider north west region.

Keith Kennedy, partner and head of Pearson’s Corporate & Commercial Department, added: “Dave’s recent appointment enhances our innovative approach to providing practical legal solutions for our commercial clients. He will be able to draw on his vast experience to really understand our clients’ goals, challenges and priorities, which might involve gearing up for a sale, refinancing, or acquiring another business. Understanding those and other key issues will allow our team of commercial lawyers to deliver more effective, proactive advice which fits with the longer term strategy of each client.”

Dave is also involved in other local activities and interests include being a governor and treasurer at Oldham Hulme Grammar School, a trustee of Oldham Enterprise Trust and a member of the advisory board for Oldham Coliseum theatre.
